Bandon/Port Orford - 2011 - Bandon/Port Orford KOA RATING: 1 – Yuck, 2 – Poor, 3 – Fair, 4 – Good, 5 - Excellent
OVERALL RATING: 3
Would you stay here again: Only as a last resort
Dates: 7/12/11 (1 nite) $32.40
Quality of Facilities and Visual Appeal: 3 First impression is ‘being confused’. You are happy to see all the trees and the being in the woods effect. But the sites are not clearly laid out. Some are spacious pull throughs with lots of privacy (heavy shrubs on both sides), others are short or on top of each other where boarders are not clearly seen. The interior roads are dirt as well as the sites. It would be awful to stay here if it is raining. There is no landscaping and the buildings are run down. There is a picnic table at each site and also a ‘dreaded’ fire ring.
Staff: 4 Friendly...’nice guy’
Location: 4 Good location, right off of the highway and in route to our next destination.
Noise/Quiet: 4 Very quiet. Some traffic noise and neighbor noise. But no trains or planes.
Amenities: 2 Just water and electric. Cable TV, but only a few channels and all or fuzzy. Free WiFi at every site. Ganley Systems. Difficult to log in. Need an access code and signal is very poor. You can get e-mail, but no heavy surfing, downloads, watching videos. Very poor.
Rec Room/Lounge/ Pool: 3 Nice pool and game room with a pool table. There is also a kids playground with a few things, but not much.
Laundry Room: 2 Part of the game room in a corner. 4 washers at $2 and 4 dryers at $1.50. Did not use.
Comfort Station: 3 Typical KOA. Old and run down, but clean. Showers are tile with vinyl stalls. Wimpy shower nozzle. Door for privacy and shower curtain. Small dressing area with no bench.
Assigned Site #B4: 3 Our site is long and woodsy with thick shrubs on one side. Other side has a few shrubs and you can see into neighbor’s trailer. Feel we are too close to neighbors. There are about 4 trailers in this park and they are all next to each other. The rest of the park is empty. Why couldn’t they spread us out. Our site was lumpy and uneven. We had tree root stubs at our door and had to cover them with bowls to stand out so we didn’t trip over them.
Park Residents/Neighbors: 2 Next door neighbor had a satellite dish, so you know they will be glued to their TV, never coming out. So we never saw our neighbors. Other side is empty. Did not meet any of the other guests. But we also pretty much stayed inside. Too many mosquitoes outside.

Tillamook, OR - 2011 - Pleasant Valley RV Park, #C6
RATING: 1 – Yuck, 2 – Poor, 3 – Fair, 4 – Good, 5 - Excellent
OVERALL RATING: 3
Would you stay here again: Yes
Dates: July 13, 14, 15, 2011 (2 nites)
Quality of Facilities and Visual Appeal: 4 A very nice park with a good layout. Interior roads were gravel and sites were dirt and grass (could be muddy if it rained hard).
Staff: 2 She was not friendly and seemed put out when I asked for a choice of sites. She was very surprised and acted like no one had ever requested that before. Of course she gave us a choice of 4 sites that were available for the two nights we were staying there and the other sites remained empty during our stay...they were not available??
Location: 4 Good location! Just outside of town in an open area. Next to the main road, but quiet.
Noise/Quiet: 4 Very quiet. Some traffic noise, but quiet at night. No train or plane noise.Amenities: 3 Full hook-ups, cable TV with several clear channels. Free WiFi; easy access, but very poor connection. Could not work on blog.
Rec Room/Lounge/ Pool: 3 Looked like a full bar with a pool table. No one seemed to be manning the bar though. There was a shelf full of videos and paperbacks. Looked like they were for exchange.
Laundry Room: 3 Large room with 5 washers $?, and 5 dryers (two are heavy duty), $?.
Comfort Station: 3 The showers and toilet are in 5 individual private rooms. These rooms are in the laundry room. The private rooms are very spacious with a toilet, sink, paper towels, a small table and two hooks. The shower is a vinyl stall with no curtain, so the water sprays out into the room.??! The hooks are right across from the shower stall. Weird. However, lots of hot water and good pressure.
Assigned Site #C6: 4 This was a different site than was assigned to us. That site was across from the permenant trailers. #C6 was more private, and very spacious. Long enough for two trailers. This site was more open with a few trees. The sun (when it came out) shined on this site. Given how cold and dreary it was during most of our stay, a sunny site was welcomed for us.
Park Residents/Neighbors: 3 Had neighbor on one side and they only stayed one night and we never saw them. No one was on the other side. The park was not full and very few people walking around. So we saw no one and talked to no one. There were no kids running around either.
